Yasmin Diktaş is a dancer and choreographer of Kurdish and Indonesian heritage. Her work explores themes of identity, liberation, generational trauma, and healing through movement. Combining contemporary dance, physical theatre, and socially engaged performance, she creates work that is both artistically compelling and deeply human.
Yasmin uses dance as a tool for connection and reflection into stories that are often difficult to express through words alone, translating personal and collective experiences into a powerful physical language.Her performances invite audiences at theatres, festivals, and cultural platforms throughout the Netherlands, earning recognition for its emotional depth, strong artistic voice, and community-driven approach.
Her choreographic language combines vulnerability with strength, drawing inspiration from her Kurdish and Indonesian roots while addressing contemporary social themes. Whether creating a theatre production, community project, workshop, or solo performance, Yasmin seeks to build spaces where people can connect through movement and shared experience.
Her debut work Azadî (“Freedom”) with 9 dancers explores oppression, resilience, and liberation through a highly physical and emotionally charged performance language. The production has been presented at venues including Korzo, Podium Mozaïek, Theater Castellum and Karavaan Festival.
Yasmin has worked as both maker and performer across theatre productions, festivals, music videos, interdisciplinary projects, and cultural events.

Her experience ranges from contemporary theatre productions and touring performances to commercial campaigns and music video work.
Yasmin is an experienced educator and workshop facilitator. She has worked at institutions like the Amsterdam University of the Arts, Artez, Pact+, and various community initiatives throughout the Netherlands. A recurring part of her work focuses on empowering young people, refugees, and underrepresented communities through dance, movement, and creative expression.
